Vendange is pronounced “Von-donj.”
About Our Name
"Vendange" is French for grape harvest and it signals the excitement and
promise of the annual vintage. That sense of celebration is reflected in our fresh, honest wines
crafted with a clean, fruit-forward character. Always reasonably priced, Vendange is a natural
complement to your meal – from simple suppers to grand celebrations.
About Our Wines
We believe good wine should be enjoyed at all meals, not just special
occasions. And that’s precisely why we make sure our wines are as affordable as they are delicious.
So no matter what you’re serving, from chicken or pasta to barbecue or prime rib, Vendange wines
are the ideal complement.
Good friends and good food make the best wines taste even better.
Winemaker bio
Vendange quality depends on a winemaking team of superior talents and great
breadth of experience, a combination that gives them the flexibility to lend a hand wherever
needed.
Director of Winemaking Jeff Kasavan is a veteran winemaker with years of specialized
experience. Jeff graduated from the University of California San Diego with a degree in biology in
1975 before serving stints at Paul Masson Winery, Golden State Vintners and Robert Mondavi. He has
headed the Vendange winemaking team since 2005.
Senior Winemaker Scott Jones was first introduced to the industry in a wine sensory
evaluation course at California State University at Fresno. Scott graduated with a degree in
enology from CSU Fresno. Today he’s responsible for maintaining the Vendange style through every
facet of production, which includes supervising special projects.
Winemaker Betsy Kane, who came to Vendange from Vina Robles in Paso Robles, is in charge of
bringing the wines together according to blending specs determined by the winemakers’ panel.
Getting them ready for bottling is quite a task because quantities of components must be
transported and coordinated with the bottling schedule. Betsy majored in food science at Cal Poly
San Luis Obispo.
Once the wines are assembled, Winemaker Brandy Andes is responsible for putting the finishing
touches on them, an assignment that requires a particularly astute and well-trained palate. Brandy
knows the wines inside and out, and has the last word on Vendange style before the wines are
bottled and distributed. Brandy majored in biology at Sonoma State University.
Assistant Winemaker/Grower Liaison Derek DeVrie's dual role neatly encompasses the growing
year: From March 1 to October 1 he works with grape growers in the field, monitoring Vendange fruit
for quality, ripeness and varietal profile; during the other months he’s responsible for finishing
new wines. Derek is a graduate with a degree in enology and a minor in viticulture from California
State University at Fresno.
